Marta Lozano Molina, Translation and Communication

Hi! My name is Marta Lozano Molina. I earned my bachelor’s degree in Translation and Interpreting in 2002 and have devoted my life to languages, which are my passion and profession. I have a master’s degree in International Relations and have lived for extended periods of time in the United States, United Kingdom, Germany and Italy. A few years ago I returned to Madrid, the city where I was born and raised. I have been self-employed since 2009, working for translating agencies, businesses and international organizations on translating, proofreading and editing projects. My working languages are English, German, Italian and Spanish, but I can manage projects involving other languages thanks to the team of translators I partner with.

I am a member of ASETRAD (the Spanish Association of Translators, Editors and Interpreters) and I am certified by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation as a sworn translator and interpreter for English.

>>> Mission

We live in a globalized world dominated by the English language. On a daily basis, we read carelessly translated news items with structures and words that make no sense in Spanish. Without even realizing it, we increasingly use expressions borrowed from English when speaking in Spanish. And many people often speak directly in Spanglish.

Although I find it useful (sometimes even inevitable) to use English words in certain contexts and situations, I am a firm advocate of the proper use of Spanish and endeavor to preserve it, safeguard it and foster it as it deserves.

Of course, I accept lexical changes and additions prompted by new social realities, but I believe that, as Spanish speakers, we should respect our language. I intend to do my bit each day in this regard through my translations and other linguistic work.
